Love, Joy, Peace...
What We Believe
Shelton United Methodist Church celebrates and affirms all people, including our LGBTQIA+ siblings, as we are all created in the image of God.

We believe the beloved community that we call church must be the body of Christ, celebrating each person’s sacred worth.

We support marriage equality and full pastoral privileges regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.

We will welcome and celebrate full inclusion of all persons in the life and ministries of the church regardless of race, gender, age, economic class, sexual orientation, physical ability, marital status, language, national identity, status of housing or employment or education, as well as other categories often used to divide us and diminish the human spirit.

What to Expect on Sunday
Our gathering on Sunday mornings follows a pattern that Christians have used for many centuries. Sometimes individual elements get arranged in a different order, but there are four main movements: Gathering, Listening, Responding, Sending.

First we gather with whomever God leads to show up. We greet one another and try to see the face of God in them and assure one another we are not alone, but part of a community.

We listen for the Living Word. We sing songs, and pray to be open to God's call.

We respond to God by giving thanks with our generosity and support through our local and global ministries.

We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month.

Children are delightedly welcome among us, and we offer Children's Church to those who would like to participate during the worship hour.

Finally, we are sent out with a blessing and charge to be a blessing to others, receiving a new thought, a challenge, or a new way to take action.

After worship we stay for coffee and conversation! We are eager to meet you! Come as you are---we have a seat for you.
